# Actor Plot

The Actor plot brings together all the characters played by each actor.

Actors appear down the left, with scenes across the top.

This is likely to be the second most useful view to share with your cast, following the [individual reports](/print-reports).

## Actor rows

Each actor’s row includes the characters linked to them in Production setup.

Characters without an actor link appear separately, labelled as having no actor assigned.

An actor can appear in the plot even if no characters have been linked to them yet.

## Reading a cell

Each allocation shows:

* The mic number.
* The character assigned to that mic.

If an actor plays several characters, their allocations appear in the same row. This lets you follow the person through the show without switching between character rows.

A scene without an allocation shows a dash.

## Character changes

An actor changing character while keeping the same mic does not create a physical handover.

Link all of that actor’s characters correctly in Production setup so StageMic can recognise this.

## Handovers

Handovers involving any of the actor’s characters appear in their row.

These show the mic number and who it is going to or coming from.

## Multiple mics

If an actor has more than one mic in a scene, StageMic highlights the allocation for review.

This can happen when:

* The same character has been allocated several mics.
* Different characters played by the same actor have separate mics.

Correct accidental allocations in the Mic plot. Use **Mark as intentional** for deliberate arrangements such as a main and backup pack.

## Editing actor links and order

Use **Production setup** to:

* Add or rename actors.
* Link characters to actors.
* Reorder actors.

Allocations themselves are edited in the Mic plot.

## Scrolling

Actor names and scene headings remain visible while scrolling through the table.

## Sharing and printing

Use **Export CSV** or **Copy table** to share the actor plot.

For printed paperwork:

* **Print → Actor plot** prints the full actor plot.
* **Print → Choose Actors** produces a separate page for each selected actor.

Only actors from the Actors list appear in the individual report picker. Link unassigned characters to actors if you want them included in those reports.
