# Conflicts and Intentional Double-Mic'ing

StageMic highlights multiple-mic allocations so that you can check whether they are mistakes or deliberate parts of the plot.

A warning appears when more than one mic is assigned to:

* The same character in a scene.
* Characters linked to the same actor in a scene.

The affected plot cells are highlighted red.

## Reviewing a warning

Check the allocation before approving it.

Common causes include:

* Assigning a character to a new mic without clearing the previous one.
* Filling an allocation forward further than intended.
* Allocating different characters to different mics without noticing that one actor plays both.

Correct an accidental allocation in the Mic plot.

## Intentional multiple mics

Some performers deliberately wear more than one mic, such as a principal wearing a main and backup pack.

In that case, select **Mark as intentional** on the affected allocation.

StageMic replaces the red conflict warning with an **Intentional double-mic** label. The allocation no longer contributes to the unresolved conflict count.

Approval records that you have reviewed the allocation. It does not remove either mic or combine them into one pack.

## Apply to matching scenes

Select **Apply to matching scenes** to approve the same allocation in all currently matching scenes.

Matching includes the wearer, mic combination and character assignments.

This is useful when an actor wears the same two packs throughout a section of the show.

It applies to matching scenes that exist at the time you select it. It does not automatically approve future allocations.

## What an approval covers

An approval applies to the exact allocation in a particular scene.

StageMic requires review again if you change the wearer, mic combination or character allocation.

Renaming or reordering a scene preserves the approval attached to that scene.

Approvals are saved in `.mic` files and autosave, so they travel with the show.

## Restoring a warning

Select **Review assignment** to remove approval from that scene.

The allocation becomes an unresolved conflict again and returns to red highlighting.

Reviewing one scene does not remove approval from other matching scenes.

## Plots, reports and handovers

Both mics remain visible in the plots and reports.

Printed plots and individual actor reports show the intentional status without a red conflict warning.

Each mic also retains its own detected handovers and completion controls. Approving a double-mic allocation does not approve, complete or suppress the associated physical changes.
