# Licence and Activation Problems

Licence activation and check-ins require a working internet connection.

The Licence screen shows the saved activation status and any error from the latest request.

## Activation fails

Check that:

* The licence key was copied completely.
* The computer has internet access.
* The licence has not expired or been suspended.
* An activation slot is available.

A network that allows local backstage displays may still block access to the internet or licensing service.

Keep the full error message if you need support.

## Activation limit reached

Each activated computer uses a machine slot.

Deactivate an old computer from inside StageMic if it is still available. If it is lost or no longer works, contact StageMic support to request release of that activation.

Deleting local licence files or uninstalling StageMic does not automatically release the slot.

## A check-in is due

Connect to the internet, open **Licence** and select **Check in now**.

Use the deadline displayed by StageMic when planning offline use. Its time of day may differ from the time you last activated or checked in.

A Standard licence with no overall expiry can still require recurring check-ins.

## An online request fails, but offline access remains valid

A failed request does not necessarily invalidate an existing paid offline allowance.

Read the status and displayed deadline. If the allowance remains valid, StageMic can continue to use it.

Resolve the connection problem and check in before that deadline.

## A trial will not start offline

Trials require online validation at the start of each new session.

A saved activation or an earlier daily check-in does not allow a new trial session to start offline.

Reconnect and select **Open StageMic** again.

## A trial has expired

Activate a paid licence to start further sessions.

Your locally stored show data remains available; switching to a paid licence does not require recreating the plot.

Removing the trial or reinstalling StageMic does not restart the evaluation period.

## The computer clock is incorrect

An incorrect date or time can prevent certificate validation.

Check the operating system’s date, time and time-zone settings, then retry the licensing action. Enable automatic time synchronisation where appropriate.

## Deactivation fails

Deactivation needs to contact the licensing service.

Check the connection and retry. If deactivation fails, do not assume that the machine slot has been released.

Contact support if you cannot complete it.

## Uninstalling did not release the activation

In v1.10, uninstalling StageMic does not automatically deactivate the computer.

Deactivate inside StageMic before uninstalling if you want to release a paid licence slot. If the app has already been removed, reinstall it and try deactivation, or contact support.

## A deadline passes during a show

A session that started with a valid licence continues running if its deadline passes.

Complete the required check-in before closing and reopening StageMic. Deactivation is an explicit action that quits the app, so do not use it during a performance.

## Getting help

Include the StageMic version, operating system, action attempted and exact error message.

Do not post your licence key publicly. Only provide it through a private support route if requested.
