Filling forward copies an allocation into following blank scenes. It is useful when someone keeps the same mic for several scenes or throughout the show.

Using fill forward

In the Mic plot:
  1. Assign the wearer in the first relevant scene.
  2. Press the → button beside that allocation.
StageMic fills the following blank cells on the same mic row. A brief message confirms how many cells were filled.

Where filling stops

Filling stops before the next existing assignment. That includes:
  • Another character.
  • The same character already assigned.
  • A Mic table assignment.
It also stops at the end of the show. Existing allocations are not overwritten.

Example

Before filling: Pressing → in Scene 1 produces: Alice’s existing assignment stops the fill. The blank cell after Alice is left unchanged.

Mic table assignments

Mic table counts as an existing assignment and stops a fill from an earlier scene. You can also fill a Mic table assignment forward if you want the plot to show the mic remaining at the table across several scenes.

When the button is unavailable

There is nothing to fill forward from an unassigned cell or beyond the final scene, so the button is unavailable in those cases.

After filling

Review the Character and Actor plots for unintended multiple-mic allocations. Fill forward follows the mic row. It does not check whether the wearer should retain that mic for dramatic or practical reasons. To correct a filled allocation, edit the affected cells in the Mic plot. Save a separate backup before making substantial changes if you may want to return to the earlier plot.
