Scenes divide your show into the points at which StageMic records mic allocations. A scene can represent a dramatic scene, a musical number, an interval or another useful point in the production. Choose divisions that make sense for your mic plot and backstage workflow.

Scene names

Each scene has a name, which appears in plots, reports, the current-scene selector and backstage displays. Names can be simple numbers, descriptive titles or a mixture of both. For example:
  • Scene 1
  • Scene 2
  • INTERVAL
  • Act 2 Overture
  • Scene 22 — The Station

Scene order

The order in Production setup is the chronological order of the show. StageMic uses that order to:
  • Arrange plot columns.
  • Advance with Next scene →.
  • Interpret numeric OSC scene selection.
  • Determine where handovers can happen.
  • Decide whether a scene change qualifies for an incomplete-handover alert.
An interval can be included as a scene if you want to plot allocations or handovers during it.

Adding scenes

Add scenes in Production setup. Type a scene name and press Enter, or select Add scene. New scenes are added to the end of the list.

Renaming and reordering

Rename a scene or use its up and down controls in Production setup. Reordering moves the scene together with its allocations. Renaming changes its displayed name without creating a new scene. Each scene has a stable internal identifier. Its individual OSC cue address remains attached to that scene when it is renamed or reordered. Numeric OSC messages select by position, so their meaning can change when scenes are inserted, removed or reordered.

Removing scenes

Removing a scene also removes its allocation column. Save a backup first if you may need to recover the scene and its allocations later.

Current scene

The current scene is the point currently shown on backstage displays. Choosing it does not edit the plot or automatically mark handovers completed. It selects which part of the existing plan is being shown to the crew. See Selecting and Advancing Scenes.
