Mic table is a special allocation used to record a mic being returned to or collected from the table. It helps distinguish a direct handover between people from a return followed by a later collection.

Assigning Mic table

In the Mic plot, choose Mic table from the allocation dropdown for the relevant mic and scene. Use it at the point in the plot where the return should be shown.

Return and collection

Consider this allocation:
MicScene 1Scene 2Scene 3Scene 4Scene 5
1JohnMic tableMic tableUnassignedAlice
StageMic detects two changes:
  • John returns mic 1 to the table in Scene 2.
  • Alice collects mic 1 from the table in Scene 4.
These are separate handovers, with separate completion states.

Mic table and blank scenes

A blank cell does not explicitly say where the mic is. For example: This produces a direct John-to-Alice handover in Scene 2. Mic table should be used when the mic remains at the table across multiple scenes.

Several scenes at the table

A mic can remain assigned to Mic table across several scenes. Consecutive Mic table assignments do not create repeated return handovers. StageMic shows the return when the mic first moves from a wearer to the table. A later assignment to a character creates a collection.

Returning without a new wearer

A Mic table assignment can record a return even if nobody collects the mic later in the show. This is useful when you want that return included in the backstage plan.

A planning instruction

Selecting Mic table records the intended location in the plot. It does not confirm that the pack has physically arrived. Cast/crew should mark the corresponding handover completed when the return or collection has happened.
