StageMic produces formatted reports for printing or saving as PDFs through the system print dialog. Reports use a separate layout from the editor, with readable headings and allocation tables.

Opening the print controls

Select Print in the header. Choose a report from the dropdown:
  • Mic plot
  • Character plot
  • Actor plot
  • Backstage swaps
  • Choose Actors

Full plot reports

The Mic, Character and Actor plot reports show the corresponding allocation view. Wide plots are split into groups of scenes, with row labels and scene headings repeated for each group. Use Scenes per page group to choose how many scenes appear together:
  • 4: larger cells.
  • 6: standard.
  • 8: more compact.
Choose a smaller group if character names or handovers need more space.

Backstage swaps report

The Backstage swaps report lists handovers in chronological scene order. It includes the mic, outgoing and incoming wearer or Mic table, and the scene in which the change is placed. Completion ticks, green progress highlighting and completion counts are excluded. The report shows the planned handovers rather than progress from a particular performance.

Individual actor reports

To produce one page per actor:
  1. Select Choose Actors.
  2. Search for an actor by name.
  3. Select the actors you want to include.
  4. Select Print.
The picker lists actors, rather than characters. Characters must be linked to actors in Production setup to appear on these reports. Selections remain when you change the search.

Select all and Deselect all

Select all selects every actor, including those hidden by the current search. When every actor is selected, the button becomes Deselect all. This also applies to the whole actor list, not just the currently visible list when using Search.

Actor report layout

Each selected actor receives a separate landscape page containing:
  • The production and actor name.
  • Their linked characters.
  • Scene-by-scene mic allocations.
  • Handovers involving their characters.
Long plots use columns and scale to fit the page. Large amounts of information may result in smaller text, so check readability before distributing the report.

Conflicts and intentional multiple mics

Unresolved multiple-mic allocations are highlighted in reports. Allocations marked as intentional show their intentional status without a red conflict warning. Both mics remain listed. After selecting Print, use the system print dialog to choose a printer, paper settings and other available options. To create a PDF, use the operating system’s PDF option, such as Save as PDF on macOS or Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows. Available options depend on the operating system and installed printers.

Check before sharing

Review the output before printing multiple copies. Check that:
  • You have selected the intended report and actors.
  • Scene names and allocations are current.
  • Text is readable.
  • The paper size and orientation are appropriate.
  • Handovers appear at the intended points in the show.
See Printing Problems if the output does not look as expected.
