StageMic provides two backstage display types: Crew and Complete-only. Both show the same live scene information. Their completion permissions differ. Neither display can edit the mic plot or advance the current scene.

Shared information

Both display types show:
  • The selected scene.
  • Handovers for that scene.
  • Shared handover completion states.
  • Current mic allocations.
  • Connection status.
Actor names are shown where characters have been linked to actors in Production setup. The controlling computer selects the scene manually or through OSC.

Crew display

The Crew display is available at the /crew link shown in Network setup. It requires the Crew password and allows users to:
  • Mark a handover completed.
  • Undo a recent completion.
  • Deliberately reset a completed handover using the hold-to-undo control.
Use it for crew who need to correct completion states from their backstage device. Browsers can remember a successful login for up to one year. Changing the Crew password invalidates existing logins. The Crew password is a deterrent, not a security method. Determined attackers may be able to bypass it, so keep the network isolated and only allow authorised devices to access it.

Complete-only display

The Complete-only display is available at the /display link. It allows users to mark pending handovers completed, but does not allow them to undo a completion. Use it where someone needs to contribute completion updates without being able to reset completed changes. It is an interactive display, rather than a read-only one.

Access and network reachability

The Complete-only display has no password. Any device that can reach it can use its permitted completion controls. Crew access is password-protected, but the local HTTP connection is not encrypted. Use both displays on a trusted backstage network and share the Crew password only with authorised users.

Computer controls

The controlling computer can correct individual completion states in Backstage swaps, regardless of which display marked them completed. It also provides Reset all completions before the next performance. See Handover Completion.
