StageMic prints through a dedicated report layout and the operating system’s print dialog. Start by checking the report selection and preview.

The wrong report appears

Open Print and confirm the selected report. For individual actor pages, choose Choose Actors rather than Actor plot. The Actor plot report includes the full plot. Choose Actors creates a separate page for each selected actor.

An actor is missing from the picker

The picker lists entries from the Actors list in Production setup. Check that:
  • The person has been added as an actor.
  • Their name is not hidden by the current search.
  • Their characters are linked to them.
Unlinked characters appear separately in the Actor plot but are not selectable as actors.

More actors print than expected

Selections remain when you change the search. Select all includes every actor, including those hidden by the current search. Deselect all clears the whole list. Review the selected count before printing.

Text is too small

For full plot reports, choose fewer Scenes per page group to give each scene more space. Individual actor reports fit one actor onto one landscape A4 page. Long plots or extensive handover information can produce smaller text. Check the preview and paper settings before printing multiple copies.

Content is clipped or scaled unexpectedly

Check the system print dialog’s:
  • Paper size.
  • Orientation.
  • Scaling.
  • Pages-per-sheet setting.
  • Printer-specific margins or layout options.
Try landscape orientation for plot reports. If necessary, save a PDF first and inspect it to determine whether the issue is in the report or the printer settings.

Colours are missing

Check whether the printer or print dialog is set to grayscale, black and white or an economy mode. Unresolved conflicts and intentional double-mic labels should still be reviewed in StageMic before printing. Do not rely only on colour to check the plot.

Completion ticks are missing

This is expected. Printed reports exclude live completion ticks, green completion highlighting and completion counts. They show the allocation and handover plan rather than progress from a particular performance.

Saving a PDF

Use the system print dialog’s PDF option. On macOS this is normally available through the PDF menu. On Windows, an installed PDF printer such as Microsoft Print to PDF can be selected. PDF options depend on the operating system and available printers.

Reporting a layout problem

Include:
  • StageMic version and operating system.
  • Report type.
  • Paper size and orientation.
  • Scenes per page group, where applicable.
  • Whether the issue also appears in a saved PDF.
  • A screenshot or sample PDF showing the problem.
Remove private cast or production information where necessary. See Reporting a Bug.
