StageMic requires a valid licence on the controlling computer. Backstage display devices do not need separate licences. Licensing is handled through Keygen.

Activating StageMic

  1. Connect the computer to the internet.
  2. Open StageMic.
  3. Enter your licence key on the Licence screen.
  4. Select Activate this computer.
  5. Once activation succeeds, open StageMic to begin working.
Keep your licence key somewhere safe. Do not include it in screenshots or public bug reports.

Activation limits

Your licence determines how many computers can be activated at the same time. For almost all full licences, the limit is 2 machines, which you may use for any purpose within your organisation. Each activated computer uses a machine slot. Installing an update on the same computer normally retains the existing activation. If you reach your activation limit, deactivate a computer you no longer use.

Standard licences and offline use

Standard licences require a monthly online check-in. After a successful activation or check-in, the Licence screen shows your offline check-in deadline. You can start StageMic offline while that allowance remains valid. Use the displayed date and time when planning offline use. Do not assume the deadline will be the same time of day as your last activation. To check in manually:
  1. Connect to the internet.
  2. Open Licence.
  3. Select Check in now.
Check your allowance before travelling to a venue where internet access may be unavailable.

Running show sessions

A session that begins with a valid licence stays running if its check-in deadline passes. Losing internet access or reaching a check-in deadline does not stop the editor, OSC control or backstage displays during that session. If a check-in becomes due, complete it before closing and reopening StageMic. A new session must meet the licence requirements again. Deactivation is different: it explicitly ends the session and quits the app.

Moving to another computer

Save your show as a .mic file before moving it. If you need to release the old computer’s activation slot:
  1. Connect the old computer to the internet.
  2. Open Licence.
  3. Select Deactivate this computer.
  4. Activate your licence on the new computer.
  5. Load your saved show.
Deactivation quits StageMic and stops its backstage displays. Your show file does not contain your licence activation.

Lost or unavailable computers

If a computer is lost, fails or can no longer run StageMic, contact StageMic support to request release of that machine’s activation. Deleting local licence files or uninstalling the application does not release the activation slot.

Updating

Licence activation normally persists across StageMic updates on the same computer. You do not need to deactivate before a routine update. See Installing and Updating.
